Mona Lisa is a sixteen-year-old, barely-literate street worker living in a massive urban settlement called The Sprawl. Almost nothing about her is remarkable, except that she was born with a remarkable gift: She can tap into cyberspace without any kind of electronic terminal. Mona bears more than a passing resemblance to famous sim/stim superstar Angie Mitchell. At the end of the novel, the two girls' identities become conflated in mysterious ways.
